Did you know that dance can help improve cognitive function? Many studies have concluded the benefits for the brain , as well as for our mood and physical fitness. Classes are fun and are designed for those who are aged 50+.
Please see Dance For Mature Movers Survey pdf below for launch of new class.
Many of us are stuck at our computers for hours at a time , which usually encourages poor posture. The result of this is posture related pain and headaches. If left unchecked, these postural habits result in injury and bigger issues later on in life.
These courses, in the studio/workplace and on- line, address problems caused by our work habits, with a tight focus on neck, shoulders and back issues.
In-house workshops are available for workplaces and business/offices. Please see DesktopPilatesworkshop pdf and contact Jayne via the link at the end of the website.
Pilates works on the core supporting muscles of the body. It focuses on creating a balanced, aligned and supported structure.
Beginners classes would suit those who are working with injuries or conditions that need a slower paced class ,and who are new to the technique.Modifications are always offered in class to accommodate different needs. Please consult your physiotherapist if you are unsure about whether you should participate.
Post birth is a difficult time. Yes, you are over- joyed to have your baby, but coming to terms with having much less time to take care of yourself is really hard. In pregnancy, the body undergoes such drastic changes and it is all too easy to end up with a long term back issue post birth.
Bring your baby along to this relaxed session and strengthen your core and pelvic floor.
This class combines dance and Pilates. It is based around a chair, which is used as a support, for sitting and when standing. It is suitable for anyone who finds kneeling and standing for long periods difficult. The sessions work to mobilise and strengthen supporting muscles which aids balance and posture.
These sessions are available as out-reach workshops for groups aswell as regular weekly community classes.
Out-reach workshop fee-£45 plus travel

“ Since joining ( Jayne’s) Pilates, on the recommendation of my physiotherapist, my neck condition has improved so much that I have needed no further treatment.”
” I absolutely adore Jayne's dance class. The music is exhilarating, and with Jayne's gentle enthusiasm and simple choreography we begin to feel like 'real' dancers. The group is friendly and inclusive, and for an hour I am transported to my happy place where only good things can happen."
" I loved every minute of the (dance) class"
” I started attending Pilates because of a recurring painful low back problem. Now 18 months later, I not only have a pain- free back, but can also play badminton, go Scottish dancing and even undertake strenuous gardening activities without any adverse affects.”
" Jayne is a very experienced insightful Pilates teacher. She works with you and her classes are relaxing yet effective. An hour whizzes by. And then you feel taller and less tense. Highly recommended."
1-2-1 Pilates sessions focus more intensively on the individual's needs. I work closely with the client to fulfil their objectives and monitor their requirements and progress.
An initial postural assessment is included in the session, which helps to identify muscles imbalances and potential injury sites. Specific Pilates exercises are then taught and coached , with the addition of modifications as required.
1-2-1 Physiotherapist instructed rehabilitation / Physiotherapy referrals are welcome.
